Christine Fong began her musical education growing up in the Niagara Region where she studied piano, flute, and violin. She was also involved in community choirs and musical theatre as an accompanist. With a Bachelor of Music in Education from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto in hand, she began teaching music at the high school level at the Toronto District School Board in 1989. Retiring in 2020 after 31 years at the TDSB, she and her husband Gord decided to move to Kawartha Lakes where she has continued to teach privately and more recently at the Trillium Lakelands District School Board.
Christine currently plays principal flute in the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra in Toronto as well as serving on the board of directors as Vice President. Christine has sung in a variety of choirs with the most recent singing lead in an a cappella quartet called Jam Session. Christine has extensive piano experience playing in different ensembles such as the Swing Easy Jazz Band and her current rock band as well as a piano accompanist for student RCM exams, university juries, and for musical theatre groups. She has directed and musically directed many musicals in the high school setting as well as in the Toronto community. Her latest musical theatre gig was playing piano in the pit orchestra of Anything Goes at the Fairview Library Theatre in Toronto in the Spring of 2023.
